Thomas Groves, founder and CEO of Equinox Benefits Consulting, has been selected as the recipient of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce 2021 Volunteer of the Year Award. The Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to Groves during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 10, at the Wind Creek Bethlehem Event Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

According to the Chamber’s announcement, the Volunteer of the Year Award gives the Chamber an opportunity to honor exemplary individuals for their long-term commitment and leadership to the Lehigh Valley and Chamber community. The award is presented to an individual who serves the Lehigh Valley community by serving The Chamber on boards or committees, and who embraces involvement as an integral part of their Chamber membership.

“Tom has demonstrated a remarkable commitment and service to his community through numerous outlets. He’s given time; he’s given COVID relief grant money the second week of the virus, in a time of great uncertainty,” said Tony Ianelli, president and CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “It was typical of Tom. When we needed Tom, Tom stepped up for the greater good of the community.”

An active participant on several community boards, Groves began a long-standing connection with the Greater Lehigh Chamber of Commerce as part of the Hispanic Chamber and has since become a member of GLVCC’s Executive Board, serving as chair of the Public Policy Committee. His deep commitment to the Lehigh Valley region extends into Equinox’s mission as well, with the company and its employees providing significant support to various organizations and initiatives over the years.
